Getting a copy of my Lakeside Information Resources (955 American Lane, Schaumburg, IL 60173) credit report was a bit more difficult than it was getting the same information via Trans Union, Experian and Equifax. I sent them a request for my credit report and forwarded a copy of my driver's license, social security card and birth certficiate to verify my identity...only to have them reject it, saying that I needed to now verify that the social security card was mine. Here is the text of the letter they sent to me: Dear Mr. Doe, Lakeside Information Resources has received your request for your Issuers' Clearinghouse Service (ICS) consumer report. We are unable to process your request without additional information. The ICS consumer report discloses all of the Visa and MasterCard bankcard application information in our files related to your social security number, address, and telephone number. The info. you supplied should be sufficient. If you want the report just send what they want. If you want to argue about it just file suit. That's what I'd do. Who ARE these people? where's their website? ????
I believe they are the ones who maintain the inquiry database - its used to check for fraudulent use of a SSN.
Hang on. Your social security card, with matching drivers license, is not enough to verify your SSN, but a check stub IS? What did you show your company when you started working? My bet is, your drivers license and that same social security card. How, then, does a paycheck stub have more clout?? Transitive properties of credit! LOL...
Re: Obtaining A Lakeside Credit Rep Lizardking experienced the same strange request and obtained the report when he provided the checkstub: http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&pgnum=1&postid=194850 Doc
Re: Obtaining A Lakeside Credit Rep although the FCRA does require a CRA to verify your identity it does not require that you: a.) have a job b.) have medicare c.) have a social security number (didn't you know that you don't HAVE to have one) d.) have a driver license e.) live anywhere (utility bill, what if I don't have utilities or I live on a park bench) You see where I am going with this right... bottom line, give them what they want but blank out EVERYTHING but your SSN Then sue them. This company thinks they are the cat's own ass, they are really pissing me off lately re permissible purpose.

Re: Obtaining A Lakeside Credit Rep Speaking of that, my cat's been pissing me off lately re permissible purpose. Alien (one of our Cornish Rexes) vomited fairly thoroughly on a Henredon dining room chair ... more than once now. I realize this adds nothing to the conversation, but it's true regardless. Doc
My question is. . . why are you sending an unknown company that no one is sure what it is they exactly do. . . any of your information? In case you haven't noticed, not everyone in the world has as high morals as you do. In my opinion, very foolish sending this company ANY information. There's a reason why you can't get what info. they have ON you until they recieve as much info. as possible FROM you.
