    An OC began reporting a chargeoff acct to a new CRA after I disputed it with them. This is a violation, right?

    They still haven't validated though they have a couple of days b4 time runs out.

    thx,

    CA's must validate. OC's do not!

    We seriously need to stop telling people this.

    Its a paid collections credit account. Was for a chevron gas card. The 30 days is almost up. I stated that I disputed it in my letter and requested that they validate the debt as mine.

    They have not marked it as disputed. In fact they reported to a brand new CRA after I sent in the letter.

    Isn't that a big no-no?

    thx,

    Then they may NOT report the debt to a 3rd party collector until they demonstrate the debts accuracy (including documents).

    PD is somewhat correct in that they don't call it "validation". But to imply that the OC can simply ignore you is misleading. That's why we need to stop telling people this.

    WE ARE NOT POWERLESS WHEN DEALING WITH AN OC JUST BECAUSE FDCPA DOESN'T APPLY!

    See the little "Learn Your FCBA" in my sig line?

    Go there;
