hey folks i just got off the phone with a doctors office who agreed to write a letter to agree to remove a paid collection account, my question is this who do i need to send the letter to the CRA or the CA the lady at the CA said it wouldnt be removed. it is my understanding that it is not up to the CA it is up to the OC to agree. The CA would not have it remove anyway bc it is paid. answers please
My understanding is unless the debt was purchased by the collection agency they work for the original creditor i.e. the doctors office. I think they are obligated to follow the instructions of the original creditor. I would have the doctors office send a letter to the collection agency instructing them to remove the tradeline AND get a letter from the doctors office for yourself on their letterhead that you can send to the CRA's. I would give it a week or so after you've gotten your letter from the doctor and made payment and then dispute it with the CRA's and see if it falls off. Just my .02 Heather
