4-5 of my delinquent accounts are being double posted. The OC shows a balance owing even though it says CO and transfered or sold to another lender. None of the OC's except Sears had updated recently but still show balance and past due amounts. 1) Can they do this? 2) What can I do about it? 3) Is this making my CR's worse than they should be? Thanks for any advice.
So if I decide to settle with the CA's what happens to the OC TL? Nothing or can I get it removed too. By the way... I'm just starting out and have a little luck so far with one CA deleting it's TL for payment. What are the odds of a CA agreeing to completely delete the TL for payment?
Sears will update EVERY month the past due. Every credit report I have ever seen with Sears shows this. If you want to get your scores up you need to take care of that one for sure. Can they do this? They do. Can you do something about it? Yes. Is this making my report worse? Oh yea.
In addition try to dispute the current balance on the >transferred or sold< accounts. If they were transferred or sold the account balance should be zero... It probably doesn't make too big of a difference, other than dropping the "accounts with balances" since they'll still probably keep the tradeline with the late payment history, but who knows they may forget to respond.
Do I dispute with the CRA's or the OC? The OC's have not been updating for about 2 years. Only the CA's are updating monthly. Once again...If there are 4 disputes about the current balance, should I do them all separate or all at one online? Thanks again for all the help on this board...
Dispute the OC's through the CRA, since they haven't updated lately, they are likely letting the information idle on the last information that they submitted prior to the >transfer or sale< just updating the note to change the status, and leaving the rest there. There's always the possibility that if they haven't been reporting for a long period that they may not respond (theres always the chance that they deleted all records of the account shortly after the transfer or sale), and it gets deleted, however there still is a chance that they kept the account information (and remember the CAs need to get the account information from the OC to answer the DV request.) that the OC will update the listing. Usually, I'll leave the listing sit until there is a long enough idling there to believe that the account won't be updated by the source.
columbo One more thing /columbo When you get the green cards back from the CAs receiving the disputes, begin disputes on their accounts as well. If they haven't responded with the DV information, they can't respond to the CRAs verification request, or its a FDCPA violation.
OK. If I dispute with the CRA's that the balance should be $0 cause they were sold or transfered. Will that ruin my chances of deleting them later? Will that verify the debt is mine? or should I dispute as not mine and hope for the best?
