I thought I read somewhere that if the OC has placed negative info on your credit report then turns over the account to a CA that BOTH the OC and CA cannot report the same debt Is this so? If it is can you please point me to the section of law that states this. I have looked and I cannot seem to find where I read this (I may be going crazy and never read it in the first place) any help is appreciated. Thanks

Well ... you're looking for negative law. There's no law that says the CAN'T both report. So trying to find a law that say's they CAN will prove fruitless. At least I haven't seen it.

I hope you're right. I think it should be considered a dup. In fact I bet we could come up with something. lol

To take the same debt, slap another # on it and report it again SHOULD be illegal.

    Let's see what others say.

    Experts?

Maybe I just dreamed it up :) It seems to make sense but like you said there is no law that quotes this type or situation. I really wish there was, it seems that you get double negative info on your report for one account.

They can and will both report and it is legal. However, after time, the OC usually rolls the acct off to tape and won't verify.
