I have a Capital One cc that was dangerously close to being charged off. So on Feb. 13, I paid them $100 on the $500 bill. Yesterday I got a statement from the OC reflecting my payment and showing my new balance at $400 and a due date March 13 with a minimum amount due ... very standard and expected. Well, the next piece of mail I open is from a collection agency. Dated Feb. 17 (after my recent payment) that states the account has been placed with the CA and to "please remit the full balanace to Capital One." It lists the full balance as the $400 amount. So who do I listen to -- the OC, who says I have to make a minimum payement by March 13? or the CA, who says I have to pay the full balance to the OC? Should I send a validation to the CA? or a C&D? I might be able to pay in full in two weeks anyway, I just don't want to deal with a CA TL or have the OC report the TL as going to collections. thanking in advance. peace, delilah
Since it hasn't been charged off yet, Cap 1 has an in house collection agency, and since it is close to the charge-off, they start contacting you.
