Is it legal for the CRA's to allow the OC and the CA to both report on your CR. The OC charged off in 2004. It stated transferred of sold. Now the CA is reporting it delinq as of 2007, and assigned it a new balance Can I contact the CRA's and dispute that one of those entries get deleted ?
Yes the can both report to your credit report, providing the OC has made a notation the account has been sold to another lender, transferred to collections, etc. Also, what you are seeing on your report I believe is the date the CA acquired the account, not the date of last activity. As far as the balance goes, it could be that the updated balance includes all fee's including late payments etc. that have been applied since chargeoff. You would need to dispute with the CA about the balance if you feel it is incorrect.
