Hi all, I have a ford motor credit account that is past due. Ford calls if Im even one day late and thats fine I am willing to talk to them. However, if they can't get a hold of me right away, like within the day, they will call my parents. My parents are very old and pressed to even get to the phone. They are very old fashioned and frown upon this, mainly to me. Ford keeps telling my parents that they can help me, but for not much longer. Is there anything my parents or I can do to stop ford from contacting them. I am ok with ford contactiing me, but not my relatives.
They may only attempt to locate you thru your parents and may not disclose the details of the account UNLESS your parents co-signed on the note, in which case FMCC can do as they please.
You can try a limited cease and desist order to NOT contact ANYONE but you regarding this debt. Unfortunately, the FDCPA does not cover OC's to much extent. At any rate, the OC CAN contact family and others regarding information pertaining to your whereabouts, address phone number...that's about it. NEVER EVER can they divulge your debt information unless that party they are contacting is a co-signor, co-account holder or gaurantor. From my experience, other than paying what is owed there is not much you can do to prevent calls to your folks, unless they change their phone number which I am sure is not even an option. Sorry!
you may wish to consider sending them notfification with your next payment of your parents "new" address and phone number....a.k.a. yours.
