Over 30 days ago, I disputed an account listed by First USA on all three credit reports (including a double listing on TU w/ an invalid account number). I first sent a validation request to First USA, using the address provided by equifax. Then I disputed with the CRA's. After 30 days, I had no response from First USA, yet all accounts were 'verified.' I do not understand how this is possible, since each credit report has different balance, payment status, and late dates. Also, the second account listed to FUSA on TU has 13 digits. I'm sure that this is a mistake, since there are no credit cards with that number of digits. The rest of the information has some resemblance to the other account, such as open date and high credit limit. I had assumed that it was a duplicate of the other account. So, my next planned step is to send a more strongly worded letter to First USA, quote section 623 of the FCRA and hint at a lawsuit. Then I was going to dispute again with the CRA's. The problem is that all CRAs have different addresses listed for First USA. The duplicate on TU even has a different address. So, where do I send the letter for First USA? All (4) addresses? The same one as before (experian's listed address), or maybe a different one? What do you guys think?
If you actually have a 1st USA acct maybe call them and ask for the address of their Credit Bureau Dispute Depatment.
