After making them a few pay for delete offers for $1000, the original creditor came back with a counter-offer that gives me 2 options:

    1) Settle in full for $1000
    2) Pay for delete( they call it clear your credit) for $1679.

I'm leaning towards #2 since it will get them off my back, protect me from lawsuit, and improve my credit score.

My understanding is that #1 would do the same except not improve my credit score.

    What do you guys think?

Agreed. I'm not sure what the original amount was, but I would rather pay more to get it deleted than get stuck with a "settled in full" notation on my credit reports. If you have the money, go for it.

I agree with Josh, if you have $1679 paid for the collection to be deleted from your credit. That is always the better way to go. Thanks! Heather with BoostMyScore.NET
