    Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie here. I have been lurking for a while and I am grateful for all the info that I get from this site.I file for chap. 7 BK in 2001 and was discharged.
I contacted some OC to update the CRA. Check this out, I had an account with Macys that was closed/ charged off in 1997. When they received the discharge paper from the BK, they updated the CRA with account closed in Nov. 2001.
I called Macys account managers to clarify with them that the account was closed in 1997, but the manager said that they actually closed it the BK.
    my questions are:
    1. is this legal ? Isn't this re-aging the fall off date of the ac****?
    2. Can they do this ? If not what should I do?

    TU 562 as of 07/02
    EQ 632 as of 07/02

If you have a report showing it was charged off in 97, then I would
    1) send a copy to the cra with a letter that they have reaged the acct and the dola needs to be changed back to the original date.

    2) Same thing with the oc except that you need to tell them they are in violation of the FCRA and if they don't report it correctly, you will file complaints with the FTC, BBB, your state atty general etc. and, if necessary, will file suit in your local court.

    Thanks LKH for the info!

Does anyone know which section of the FCRA deals with ageing or re-ageing of accounts?

    Let me know.
