If an OC (Comcast in my case) sends an account to a CA (CMI group), whose account is it? I never talked to CMI, paid and returned equipment to Comcast, yet CMI is reporting a paid collection. Every time I send a letter to CMI, they say "we talked with Comcast and they said..." If it was CMI's account, then why would Comcast accept my payment and equipment return? Shouldn't they have told me that I had to deal with CMI, since the account was being handled by them? Is that right/legal? and where would I find that tidbit of law? Thanks..
Either the OC just assigned the CA to collection on their behalf (not selling it), or since they got their money and equipment they bought the account back from the CA (which I think rarely happens).
