I applied for an orchardbank visa card about a week ago and they approved me online, but then I received the following letter today...

    blah blah blah...
"In reviewing your application, we discovered that some additional information is needed to complete the processing of your application. Please provide the information listed on the reply certificate......If we do not receive the requested information, we will be unable to give further consideration to your application."

Then on another piece of paper it says,

"-Return a processing fee of $19.00.

Please provide a copy of a recent credit card statement (Utility bills such as gas, phone, electric, water or cable bills are not acceptable). Your statement must have the following information:

    - Your last name appears on the statement
    - The mailing address on your statement matches the address you provided to us on your application.
    - The account must have been open a minimum of six months.
    - Must not be any older than 90 days old

Social Security Number or Income Verification

Please provide one of the following documents to help us validate either the Income or Social Security Number you provided:

    - A copy of your W-2 for last two years
    - A copy of the last two years tax return filings
    - A photo copy of your Social Security Number
    - A copy of a paystub

Okay, so did I apply for a subprime creditcard or am I mistakenly applying for a mortgage? geeez... Anyone else get a similar letter and if so what was your experience with getting a card from them? Thanks.

They're just making sure it's really you applying and not someone using your name.

They suspect that someone else might be using your info. This is actually a good thing that they want this info because it protects you and them.

I would send it. Orchard isn't as bad as say, First Premier or CCB, and their approval standards are quite easy.

I didn't know they had Visa cards, by the way. Where did you find it? All I could find were MCs.

    Send the information dude.....

CapOne put me through the same thing in 99.
I think you may have a lot different addresses on your CRA's or MailBox Etc?

long list of variations of your name may bring this type of response.

Pull up your CRA's get rid of all previous addresses and make sure your name is the same on all 3.

Before I did this I was getting pre-approved junk offers in my first name, then my middle name, then with my last name first first name last, etc

    you get the picture

I cleared all of that up and now I get cards without all of the hassle. In retrospect it really is in your best interest.

    just a thought.

I say ignore this 'offer.' In particular because they requested a fee. It seems they are not thinking highly of you.

I got $5k from Household/Orchard i only had to sign my name.

I think whether or not to ignore depends on this poster's credit history - this could be the best offer available with a lot of derogs, or it could be the worst, if no derogs and just short credit history.

    needinfo,

I ALWAYS have to send additional info. I can never get instant credit. That was because when I first started my credit crusade, Gulf State was trying to collect from me for a phone bill that was not mine. I know I have a fraud alert on Experian, and I guess it is on the other 2 as well. Maybe you have the same thing--call and find out.

I could not agree more. Sometimes there are things that do not look right to the creditor grantor. Just amking sure they(CRA's) had my name right did a look for my creditI HAD the same promblem.

I just did the Target deal on line and got it in 30 seconds. 1000.00 :) Now that would have not happened just 3 months ago.............

Take what you can get unitl you can do better...yes i know it is ugly but that is the reality of having credit issues.

Thank you all for the replies. I am going to go ahead and contact them via phone and see if I can get more information regarding the credit limit etc., before sending them the requested information.

I think I am mistaken about the visa card, it actually was a MC. sorry.
