I've gotten so many requests (like 100 at least) I am simply going to post it. Please don't copy this word for word.

    Dear Equifax Representative,

I suspect I may be the victim of identity theft and have asked for your assistance several times. However, I have been mocked and ignored.

Equifax is in willful violation of the FCRA by its stated policy of refusing to even consider investigating inquiries. I canâ??t even apply for credit I do want because I am afraid I will be declined because of the inquiries.

I intend to sue you all for willful noncompliance of the FCRA, non-permissible credit disclosures, and willful enablement of identity theft if you do not delete these inquiries within 30 days:

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Please don't allow my credit to be further damaged. I do not hold you personally responsible for these problems, but I do look to you for a solution.

    I appreciate your time.

    Sincerely,
    author_22

Did this cause any kind of fraud alert to be put on your report? If so should we be concerned that our file may be "flagged" for fraud alert or identity theft when applying for future credit? I am just wondering.

By the way I love the "mocked" part...I am going to steal that from you for my letters - LOL

It is a racket, that TU score. I was once at 585. Then with 2 new accounts, I lost almost 100 points? It doesn't make sense because the hits on the other CRA's was minimal. I do have three negs on TU, which they always "verify" but still.........

As of right now, there is no fraud alert. However, it's fine by me if they add one.

I have not seen any score differences, by the way :( I was told 17 inquiries should give me at least 10, if not 20 or more points.

Just be forewarned that TU loves to put hawk alerts. Not sure how that affects things.

Just so folks know that sending things to the CRA's that say "ID Theft" or "Fraud" of any kind may get your file flagged for a "Fraud Alert" or "Hawk Alert". This may get you results you did NOT intend on, causing you headaches for years to come if not forever.

May be "ok" with you, and may in fact only cause minor hassles, but I wanted people to know what might happen if they start using this letter verbatim.

    Congrats on the inquiry deletions.

Believe me, you want no parts of any Hawk alerts or fraud alerts on your CRA reports. I've had them for years due to a mail boxes etc. address and because of all my disputing, some of my CRA reports have an alert that claims I am a credit repair service. I've been working on getting all those removed for months and it is a pain in the ass.

I understand that it is not desirable to have such alerts, and I'm not asking people to use the suspected ID theft. However, EQ was really pissing me off by their behavior, and I HAD to get some inquiries off. I had 43 in five months! It was ridiculous and yes, a problem that could've been avoided. I had no cooperation from businesses, though I plan to use the BBB to try to kill the other 26.

Whoa, author_22, that's a lot of inquiries, lol! 43 on just Equifax alone in 5 months. You must have been applying for everything in sight! :D

    Doc

P.S. I well understand. Credit applications are addictive, lol.
