Re: ONE OTHER PROBLEM HERE..... There is no best plan of attack. He has to get current or give the car back. This is a situation where the passage of time just makes thing worse.
So this is not the first time he screwed up with DCX Financial, which would explain why they would not allow the checking account withdrawn payments. He will have to come up with 4 or 5 months payments depending on his due date. Does he have the kind of money? If so he would have to Western Union it, DCX Financial does it all the time. Yes, they could take his catch up payments and still repo his car. Why, because they can. His past payment history with DCX Financial could be the reason they would not set up the deduction. So if I am reading your post correctly, right before your friend moved he asked for his payments to be deducted from this checking account, DCX Financial says no, so he says "screw them" and doesn't have his mail forwarded, doesn't make a payment, and doesn't attempt to make a payment cuz he kinda sorta forget. And you wonder why we are harsh. I personal doubt that DCX will accepted payment for the past due balance exchange for "pays as agreed" due to his past payment history. He has illustrated to them that he can not pay as agreed so why should they do him a favor. The first thing he needs to do is contact DCX NOW and tell him that he ain't to proud to beg. The best he could get is payment exchange for keeping the car. He will have to give them his present address when he makes payment and he will have to staple a post it note to his forehead so he doesn't sorta kinda forget in the future. Good luck to your friend.
I have to agree wholeheartedly with the above post. You need to stop trying to fight the good advice on this board and listen for a little bit. You friend screwed up. Sad fact, but true. Now he has to make it right. But he doesn't want to make it right because it's the principle of the thing. Tell him to call Chrysler, beg and plead. He will probably have to give that car back. And if he does, then it may be for the best. Sometimes, people won't learn until they hit credit "rock bottom"
I have a ???. Do you mean that even if he gets current on his car payment, he may still have to give the car back? I'm just wondering because 7 yrs ago, when I went thru my divorce, I was 5 months behind on my car payment. I was driving from Fl, back home to Maine, and they were calling my mother trying to find out what motels I was staying in so they could repo it. As soon as I got home, my mother helped me get caught up, and I never heard from them again (of course, I never let it get behind again either!!) I was just curious, that's all. Just thought I'd stick my nose into a conversation that has absolutely nothing to do w/ me! LOL
