Wow, an Experian rep just told me that a student loan where the government paid a claim was in a finalized status and could not be disputed. COULD NOT BE DISPUTED!!! I asked her this several times, not really believing she was understanding what she was saying, and wishing like hell I had a tape recorder going. She did say she would send the very same statement to me in writing though. Man, if this is true, and I seriously doubt that it is, how could we all have been so blind as to miss it? These crazy CRA's, wow.

LoL Thanks Greg. I've already been to a Radio Shack near me, but didn't have the cash when I was there. What I was planning to do was to use my PC as recorder, and get the cheaper handset line attachment for the phone. (I couldn't find a link to it, but they had several at the Radio Shack I went to, for about $15. It is NOT the suction cup microphone.) Do you think I give up credibility by using the PC to record? The advantage is virtually unlimitted storage space. It also makes replaying for content much easier, as random access is faster. Then, when you have what you need, you can burn to a CD. Though using tape would give the impression that things were not doctored, one could easily digitize the tape recording and doctor it up before running it back to tape. OTOH, I guess that a close examination of the audio would disclose the fact of being digitized, I think. Hmmm. Anyone have thoughts on this?
You're way ahead of me. Please give us the product number of that gadget if you get a chance. Editing a recording without disclosure is just another form of lying, so it comes down to your credibility. http://www.rcfp.org/taping/
For some reason when I read this subject line I kept thinking you were going to buy one of those silly musical instruments they used to make you play in the second grade... You know, the plastic flute-looking things that split into three pieces and were always kept soaking in a foul smelling antisceptic? For the life of me I couldn't figure out why an adult would every want one of those things. It must be time to go to bed. Goodnight.
Thanks Greg, I was about to go looking for that website. DaveLV, the recorder is still used in many forms of music. Lots of folk musicians play recorder. It is found in many English and Irish folk songs. Those cheap recorders used in schools hardly do the recorder justice. There are many different types of recorder, and a nice wood recorder can sound very good. I tried to find a sound sample, but had no luck. Prescott Workshop seems to give a nice overview, but I had better links I can't find. If you are wondering, my mother was looking to purchase a Renaissance recorder, and had me do the searching )
It was in the essentials section, Mini Recorder Control, catolog #43-1237 . Works with VOX mini-recorders, but should be perfect for a PC as well.
Excellent. The store near me didn't have anything that looked like that. I'll go to the bigger one down the road, or get it online if that fails.
Before rushing out to buy something to record anything, you should check this website; http://www.rcfp.org/taping/ I also have this posted on my website under "misc. legal stuff"
Why Chat, Greg posted that link a few posts above in this very thread. I'm thinking he probably has a handle on the legalities involved.
Well, lastnight I decided to hook this gadget up and test it out. Lots of static and a peculiar smell. Computer screen starts flickering! Quick, disconnect it!!! I'm going back to the shack today and asking if I have a defective product, or if it shouldn't be connected to a computer sound-card. The instructions didn't mention anything, one way or the other.
I have a letter from them. As you can probably guess, it doesn't really say what the rep said. I'll scan and post it today, if I have time.
Here it is! The letter that says once a student loan defaults it can't be disputed. Well, ok, it doesn't say that. It doesn't say much, really.
