I have accounts that the CRA said, I can either close by consumer, or leave as is.

    One reads:

credit limit or original amount/high balance
    $4,000

    recent balance/ recent payment
    $0/paid as of 7-1997

    status
    Inactive never late

    the other:

credit limit orig. amount high balance
    NA/NA

    recent balance/recent payment
    $0/ paid as of 6-1997

    status
    Inactive never late

    the 3rd.

credit limit or orig. amount high balance
    2,300

    recent balance 8-1996

    status
    Inactive never late.

Should I close these, and the CRA will report, closed by consumer, or leave as is? I need to elevate my score. Will this help or hurt? Whats the best thing to do?

    thank you

i think since its "inactive" its in a closed like state. if so then closing them shouldnt do anything. i dont know about the "inactive" account remark though. even if you close them, they will still give you the same amount of credit history.

I have an account that has been inactive for the past 10 years. It does help your score for 2 reasons.... 1 - age of credit... 2 - bal to limit ratio

    Keep it there.

Is it easy to reactivate an inactive card if you were in good standing with the company?
