Need some help! Got a letter from a collection agency for state taxes from the state of Missouri. The years for the taxes are 1997 and 1998. Is there a SOL on old taxes? The letter comes from collection agency and then today I receive a letter from State of Missouri...and there is over $100 difference. Need some help from all of you!! Many thanks.

    I "THINK" IT IS A S.O.L. OF 99 YEARS

I'm AMAZED they didn't get it from "OTHER" STATE and/or FEDERAL REFUNDS...

SOL with taxes applies to the time with which you have to amend the return. VERY FEW states have a SOL on collections. New York is still carrying on its books taxes owed from the Civil War. Hawaii specifically states there "is no Statute of Limitations on Collection".

Me too! And its only for a little less than $500. State property taxes suck...you get the priviledge of paying tax on your things every year!!
