Older Derogs Not Rereported?

Let me ask a basic question about the mechanics of CRA reporting. If an older derogatory tl is deleted at the CRA what has to happen for it to reappear? Does it get autoupdated in 2 to 3 months by the cc company? Or, does the verification response come back later and the CRA manually adds it back? Or is it a mixture of both? In the case of older tls that haven't been rereported by the OC in years, if it can be deleted it would seem like almost a zero chance of it coming back? Thanks very much for answering this basic question.

I guess it could reappear. Usually, if an item has gone a while without a monthly or quarterly update, the oc/ca will not bother to report...especially if it is old. From my experience, anything gone for 2 years is gone for good.

With regards to items that were deleted, I know that there is a procedure for cloaking...There is an automatic cloak that is in effect for 12 months...meaning thier system will keep an item from reappearing if it is reported any time within 12 months. If the item goes unreported for 12 consecutive months, the cloak falls off because chances if it reappearing are slim. If at any time during the 12 months the item is re-reported, the 12 month period is re-set. This is done becuase of all the electronic reporting that often passes info that should no longer be passed.

Now, if an item IS reinserted, of course, you have to be given notice.

    Hope this helps.

Remember items are not "deleted". They are just "suppressed". The CRA can see everything but creditors can't unless the CRA screws up.

Well, now I understand it is important for them to have records of what was deleted and what wasnt, but that is pretty crappy. I guess that makes sense on sometimes when I call and the rep is reviewing my file, they think out loud and mumble off accounts that have been deleted. As far as "if they make a mistake"...its kinda like saying "government intelligence"...one need not explain any further, lol.
