Here is a summary of my Discover lates as of March (don't laugh) from my Experian report:

    150 days as of 10-1996
    120 days as of 9-1996
    90 days as of 9-2000, 8-2000, 4-1997, 8-1996
    60 days as of 7-2000, 2-2000, 8-1999, 3-1997, 7-1996, 6-1996
    30 days as of 6-2000, 1-2000, 7-1999, 3-1999, 10-1998, 4-1998, 1-1998, 10-1997, 7-1997, 2-1997, 5-1996, 10-1995, 4-1995, 9-1994

Here is the same tradeline as of today!!

    90 days as of 9-2000, 8-2000
    60 days as of 7-2000, 2-2000, 8-1999
    30 days as of 6-2000, 1-2000, 7-1999

My Discover account has never been disputed with Experian. They must have removed the prior lates as a result of my letter to them!

Ok, dear Dave. Can ya post the letter????
I've been wondering how to get rid of multiple negs. I have one acct that looks like that (except there's no 120 or 150...holy cow!) :)

I've been meaning to sit down and type this back in. For some reason I didn't save the electronic copy.

It's at the office and I am planning on sitting down and typing it out again this weekend for everyone. It's long and sappy and really the story of my laziness -- hence it's a bit embarrassing and that's probably why I haven't gotten around to retyping it. The bottom line is there is really no good reason I didn't keep up with my payments, and I told them so.

I never asked them to delete the lates.

Well, whatever you said worked! Maybe sappy is more effective than hardnose. I can do sappy.
Did you ask for anything, or were you just saying sorry?

I asked them if they could credit any late or overlimit fees (I've paid this account from a $1,900 balance in March to a $600 balance as of today) and asked them if there was any way they could possibly reinstate the account even at a miniscule credit limit.

They credited about $100 in late/overlimit fees and did a hard inquiry with Equifax to see if they could reinstate. They did not reinstate because of a totally bogus repossession from Ford Motor Credit (do a search and you will read all about my story with them).

If I ever get this junk with Ford cleared up I will ask them to take another look.

I never asked in my letter for them to make any modifications to the way they were reporting my account -- I figured I deserved it.

    Hmmm..
Mine's with Associates. They closed it long ago & I've been making regular payments on it. I'm going to pay it down & maybe ask them to reopen it. I just don't know how to word it so they're convinced. That would be great if they reopened AND got rid of the lates.

The trick with Discover was to find the right person. A poster on this board suggested I write to a specific individual at Discover who was able and willing to help.

Perhaps someone here knows such a person at Associates.
