Hello - first of all i wanted to say thank you for all of your advice/info - i never thought i would be on my way to cleaning up my reports but I am :)

I do have two questions though that if anyone could pass along some of that knowledge, I would greatly appreciate it.

#1 - while I have paid several of my bad debts in full, and I was informed by the company/agency that it would be reported as pd in full rather than settled - does that mean that the items will continue to reflect as negative items on my reports yet have the status as Paid? or will these items fall off of my report?

#2 - years back I got myself into some debt w/Sears - in 1999 I agreed and fulfilled my end of a settlement with them and asked directly if, by settling, it would add another negative mark on my reports - I was told no.
I now come to find (dontcha just love these surprises? :) That while the item is listed as negative and settled, it is ALSO listed as a civil judgement as well. I have sent Sears a certified ltr requesting that one be removed from my report and while I was waiting I thought I would ask the forum - If i cannot get it removed, (the civil judgement) is there a way i can contact them and pay the remainder of what was due to have it reflect as pd in full? As i stated in my ltr to them, had i known it would show as two negative items, i would have just continued to pay it late but in full rather than make the large payment that i did. * FYI the civil judgement is only shown on my transunion - all the others just show the settlement information -

    Thank you very much!
