    Mortgage Company - Six Pulls
    Electric/Gas/Water - One
Telephone - One (promised they wouldn't)
Insurance - Two (also both promised they wouldn't)
Cable TV - One (refused to activate without)

All in ~6 weeks. At least I got the house!

    Anyone beat my tally?

I OFFER TO PAY AS MUCH AS $200 OR $300 UPFRONT DEPOSIT AGAINST MONTHLY BILLS ON MY CREDIT CARD!!!

If I can't have the UTILITY direct bill one of my credit cards...I PAY ENOUGH TO COVER 6 MONTHS OF BILLS...

PULLING A CREDIT REPORT FOR UTILITIES IS JUST WRONG!!!

You also might be able to get your current UTILITIES to give a letter of recomendation (AND/OR PAYMENT HISTORY)

    That's horrible!

I closed my mortgage with the local lender back in April, and Countrywide bought my loan just now (second trifecta of inquiries was just last week but I won't dwell).

I truly could have used a letter of credit from my old utility, but I was in a big hurry; the builder issued a turn off as soon as I moved in so there wasn't a lot of time to quibble over one (more) inquiry.
