One more thing

One more thing, in my first post, I mentioned a Ward's card chargeoff that was first listed about 6 years ago. They say I legally settled with them "for less than owed amount". That is not true and from my understanding at the time, this should not have been a chargeoff, it was simply a late payment. Now I have this extremely negative thing on my credit report that I am disputing. Are the chances of getting this taken off easily pretty good since Ward's themselves filed bankruptcy and no longer exist?

I don't recall who is handling Wards' credit services, but it wouldn't hurt to try and get the full record (including documentation) of your account history from them before you try any type of dispute. If they don't have them, it makes your case that much stronger. Worked for me in getting a Winston Tire charge-off from 1995 bounced rom TransUnion. Good Luck.

It looks like they kept reporting it, the last time was in 11/98, but I didn't receive any correspondence from them for years. But it was first put on my report much sooner than that. From my understanding, the 7 years starts when it is first reported, is that correct? Anyways, I'll do what I can to get it taken off, especially since I paid it. I don't know how they can come down on me for it, since they themselves filed bankruptcy recently!
