I have an older store card (w/a co. called Credicard) with good payment history that had never been reported to any CRA. I talked to a customer service rep today to find out to which CRA(s) the co. subscribed, and request that they report this positive tradeline. The rep agreed to report to Equifax (the only one they subscribe to), but warned that it might affect my credit adversely. He said that he would manually report this account, but as it would never be updated, it would appear "odd" on the report. I thought that an aged positive tradeline only reported once was better than it not having this account on my report at all. I asked him to proceed with this "manual reporting," but I hope I didn't make a mistake. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thank you!
I'd think as long as you don't have a balance and the account is a couple of years old it couldn't hurt you. I wouldn't let them report it if you have any kind of balance that is just going to sit there forever.
