It seems like I'm the only one who doesn't use this nowadays. I would like to try this out because I'm getting tired of running to the post office a couple of times a week, but I'm worried about security. I don't mind giving my credit card number over the net on a secure site because I can always dispute fradulent charges, but I don't know about storing my checking account info on a bank website because some hacker might come along and clean out my checking account. Also, what's to stop the bank from deducting some money from my account for finance charges ? Any thoughts or comments ?

    Thanks.

The only problem I have had is the "TIME" it takes to post the payment to the account...

They have gotten better...some even post that day!!!

24-48 HOURS IS ABOUT ALL YOU SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT...

You have to AUTHORIZE all payments...so they CAN'T take money with-out permission...THAT'S THEFT!!!

How do you authorize the payment ? Are you given an authorization or transaction number after you click on "pay bill" ?

They all are slightly different, unless you use a bill paying service to handle all your bills which (of course) would work the same for all bills paid.

But basically, you enter the ABA/Routing number and the checking account # from the bottom of one of your checks.

Some have automatic payment (I do not use this) where every month an automatic debit is made to your checking account for the bill.

Most have the ability to select an amount to pay, and then "authorize" the transaction (clicking a button) that causes the debit to your checking account.

Some want check numbers, some remember the banking info, some don't...but basically it works similarly to the process above.

    Some have "TRACKING" numbers...some don't.

Steve, a few months ago I updated to the latest Quicken. It was the best thing I did! I pay my bills through the Quicken bill pay. It's great, because I can plan ahead & schedule my payments ahead of time. They don't send until I say to send. They only draw-back is you have to do it a week before the due date.
It creates a list of your bills in order of dates due, so it's real easy to see what's coming up & plan around pay days.
If by chance I'm too late for the bill pay, I do a payment online. I haven't had any problems.
