Hi all. This is my first post here and I'm a newb to this credit repair stuff. I've been reading and studying for about 3 weeks now and want to get the ball rolling. I'm just a little nervouse that I'll mess something up so I wanted to throw one of my plans of action in front of you guys and gals. I have had a bad mark on my credit report with a company called Leasecomm since 1999. They updated it every month like clockwork as a Charge Off. I had been in dispute with them for the whole time since 1999 and Never sent them a dime. I didn't know enough about credit reports and my rights until just recently so I never "officially" contested it. Anyway, The FTC finally got these extorsionists to give me and thousands of other victims of Leasecomm's a balance of $0. I just got the invoice in the mail last week showing me a credit for the $3,300 they claimed I owed them. The account still lists on my Equifax and Experian CR's. Do you all think that a simple online dispute will settle this? I want the account totally removed from my CR's. I'm a little gun shy as to what to do as I've never had to do anything like this. I don't want to waste 30 days with no results. One shot, one kill is what I'm looking for. Thanks, Jim
That is the consent agreement, but it doesn't say Leasecomm has to delete the tradelines. This cessation of collections shall include, but is not limited to, directing all third parties engaged in debt collection (e.g., debt collectors and debt collection attorneys) to cease immediately all collection activities; furnishing credit information to the three credit reporting agencies to whom the defendants report to show the applicable account no longer has an outstanding balance; Was this a business account?
It's on my personal credit reports. It was supposed to be for a credit card terminal but they sent me a credit card swiper and a floppy disk. They refused to make things right so I refused to pay them a dime and even closed the account they were trying to draw funds from, which was a PERSONAL checking account. I don't really know if it's an official business account. It was opened personally. If it's a valid debt, why would they credit me $3,300? If it's not valid it doesn't belong on my CR's. I never asked them for a $3,300 credit, they gave it to me. I would take that to mean that I never owed them the money. I'm also looking for ways in which I can sue them for holding my credit hostage for the past 5 years. I've been turned down for car loans, credit cards and apartment rentals since this has come about. The FTC finally got them to take the clause out of the contract requiring all legal actions to take place in MA. So I can sue them here in my hometown now, but I really don't know exactly what to sue them for. I can't afford a lawyer. I'm not a legal eagle and my resources are shallow, which is why I'm trying to educate myself here by reading and absorbing all I can and also getting as much help as possible from the people here who can at least guide me in the right direction. Jim
Well, I just got my online dispute results back from Eperian. "Updated". It shows a 0 balnce and a $3,300 write off. Please advise. I think I would like to go straight to a lawsuit. Jim
