I have just tried to start an onlne dispute with equifax. They prompted me for my zip code to start and then got a message they were sorry but i couldnt proceed. I needed to contact this other listed credit company at an 888 number. Does this mean because of my geography that I can't make an online dispute?

sounds like a pain to me.. only to be outdone by my call to experian today to get my sign in info to reaccess my report. what do they do, give me another 800 #. I call that and it basically seems to be some relay message telling you to call a 900 number of all things for some kind of directory assistance.

    what a crock

Even worse, the 888 number they give you for csc is wrong...always stays busy.

I have CSC's number if you need it.

I can't dispute online with Equifax either, and I've only done one dispute with them! Will I ever be able to dispute online?

Yes, Foster, I always reach a live person...however, their intelligence is often questionable, lol.

i tried calling the number. it also prompted me for a zip code. 1st time I put in the right one and of course got referred to buffalo NY where that contractor only takes written notice for anything.
the 2nd time i entered an old zip but then just got to an autmated voice system that said if i want to appeal. they asked for my credit report number. i looked on the saved file i saved when i got it online. low and behold i cant find a cr number on this online file. are they only printed on written sent out reports? obviously without a cr number the system hung up on me. do i basically need a written report before getting any further? and on top of that once I get a report and try to appeal it and they find my zip, will they just refer me to buffalo yet again? cause f thats the probability Id just a soon write directly to Buffalo. such frustration and I havent even started a dispute yet.

youre still talking about eq, right? Look on your other post about tu roadblock...I posted the phone numbers for eq (CSC) and tu there. I call these numbers and never get a prompt for zip code. Tu is the only one who asks for file number.

If you're talking about tu, let me know and I will tell you what to do to get a file # online. as far as eq, not sure because the number I call for CSC (eq) never makes me put in any numbers.
