Are these better since the CRA's cannot challenge you as the item being 'previously investigated' ??? How much time is lost (processing time) using an online dispute rather than a mailed one?? I wonder if it makes any difference, since Experian has flat out told me that they start their '30-day clock' on the day they begin processing mailed disputes, NOT THE RECEIVED DATE, even though this is in violation of how I understand the FCRA language....They swear this is the case, and that it is their right!
Experian will block you from disputing an item more than once on occasion even if you do it online. I have disputed some items 5 times now while others I was only able to dispute once.
Does anyone have any input on whether they were more succesful or not with online vs. mailed disputes??
First, I would call in and dispute any old address/ph numbers because that is typically extremely easy to get removed and will be done quick. Second I would do online for the first one or two. After that I would do it CRRR as you are trying to catch any violations by the CRA to file a lawsuit on. Hopefully some other cnetters will post their experience.
Most people here will disagree, but I can honestly say 99% of my deletions have come from online disputes, and that is not an exageration, 9 out of 10 have been from online
TU was giving me grief for my mailed disputes. They just flat-out refused to re-investigate. I tried an online dispute instead, and the items were immediately put into invesigation. I got 3 of 4 deletions. Not bad. I don't know if it was luck or the online dispute that made the difference, but I sure was happy when I got that letter stating that they were initiating a new investigation. I know if you keep mailing, you will eventually get an re-investigation, but it may take half a dozen denials before it happens.
I like online because you know right away if they'll investigate. If they won't you can click on another account until you get one they'll investigate. For me the results have been the same for online vs mail.
I had a great deal of success online, except with TU. If you go the online route you also don't have to wait for the mail, which typically means you can get in more disputes per month.
How many disputes do those of you that dispute online do at one time??? And how far apart in time??? Do they send you notification of the investigation etc online or through the mail??? Have they ever asked any of you for proof of your address when asking for addresses to be deleted ?? Both TU & Experian asked me for proof.....Could it be because the addressI used in my request was in atotally different city then the ones I was trying to get removed from my file.
Yes will ask to verify for Idenity reason. They also like to keep current adddress up to date so that they can offer a good service to marketers
they usually will delete addresses without additional proof and sometimes within say 7 days, not 30. I think it was equifax that I discovered were investigating the dispute even though they requested proof of address.
