I was just wondering what would happen if you don't activate your card (other than you not being able to use the card, of course)? Say you got a card in the mail that you don't want, should you leave the card and not activate it? Would this account automatically close after some time or do you have to call and request that the account be closed?

If you don't want the card, call the issuer and ask that the account be closed.

Ask them to report it as "ACCOUNT CLOSED BY CONSUMER".

If you don't close it, and you don't activate it, they will ASSUME it is lost...AND THAT IS BAD...They say they can't put "LOST IN MAIL", THEY JUST SAY "LOST OR STOLEN CARD".

Some credit card companies will ASSUME, YOU LOST IT!!!
