OH well.....at least I tried. I was reading through the threads about another person who called Chase to check the status of their application so I decided to call and check the status of my secured app. Long story short...they are sending me a letter with MY CHECK in it! :-(

    Totally BUNK!!!!!!!

Well, there goes plan B (i.e. get Chase, transfer $200 balance from Washington Mutual Secured to Chase and close, then get deposit back from WM and send to Chase). I'm totally sick now. I really wanted this card!!! Oh well.....I guess I'll wait and see why the denied my app. Maybe it was because of that 1 remaining collection account for $1k. I guess I'll take the Chase money and go down to the original creditor for that account and pay them the $300 (I had made arrangements to do this in 2 weeks in exchange for removal from collection agency and deletion off of my report). We'll see......but I'm still sick!

Creditors make mistakes all the time... wait for your letter and read the reasons for denial... If none of the reasons apply to you, call them back.

I don't know but I don't think Chase turned you down for a $1K collection.

    Good Luck MP$40 !

MP - I thought I had read somewhere that the CHASE product was only available to NO CREDIT, and no past derogatory credit.

I do believe I saw in CardTrak or Bankrate.
    Don't worry baby :)

    Amalgamated Bank of Chicago

Best secured card on market. Maybe 16.9%
    for standard $500-4999, GOLD Mastercard
    $5000 deposit.

Get the standard - put in a grand or 500, they report to all 3 bureaus.

    NO website.
Call 1-312-555-1212 for Amalgamated Bank # and ask them to send you the secured cards applications.

They took me with a BK 3 months old - and they are good. Interest was good 4-5%.

Now that I think of it...on the application it specifically said to ESTABLISH credit, etc. Nothing about BAD credit! Oh well....

Thanks for the suggestion on that other bank. I've seen that list from Bankrate a million times over. That's were I originally heard of the Chase secured card.
