I have a couple of questions:

Do you all think that short, concise letters are best now that so many people have discovered credit repair?

Do you think that the CRAs even really read the letters?

I have written most of my letters to sound as if i never discovered this site. you know, the 'average joe' approach. Is that good or bad?

also, i have disputed something w experian 3 times, and i'm sending the 4th today even tho they already sent me a letter stating 'this item has already been investigated'. I'm going with the short, to the point approach, lol. please tell me your opinion on this sort of letter.

    Sir or Madame:

    RE: TRADE LINE, ACCT #123456...

I HAVE DISPUTED THE ABOVE ACCOUNT 4 TIMES, PROVIDED PROOF, AND YET YOU CONTINUE TO REPORT INACCURATE INFORMATION.

I HAVE BEEN TOLERANT OF YOUR WILLFUL AND NEGLIGENT NONCOMPLIANCE LONG ENOUGH.

I CONTACTED THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR/SOURCE BEFORE I EVER BEGAN COMMUNICATIONS WITH YOU AND I HAVE PROOF OF THAT AS WELL, SO DO NOT TELL ME THAT I â??MAY WISH TO CONTACT THE SOURCEâ??.

[ORIG CREDITOR] HAS DONE THEIR PART AND SO HAVE I.

AGAIN I AM ENCLOSING SAID PROOF.

DELETE THE TRADE LINE OR BE SUED.

    Sincerely,

    Crowmom

Should i include the threat about suing at the bottom?

    thanks.

Yeah, I think that is a good letter. You have to keep your letters short with the CRA's, esp. with the EVIL EXP, as I think their employees are generally more stupid than the norm and thus have lower attention spans.

Has EXP investigated your account 4 times??? Or did they investigate 2X and refuse to investigate after #2?

LOL @ more stupid than the norm--you got that right.

i included one more sentence in my letter:

"IT IS YOU WHO NEEDS TO CONTACT THE SOURCE. SIMPLY CALL [OC] AT 1800-XXX-XXXX."

to answer your question...they 'investigated' 3x and after the fourth dispute they sent me the 'we already investigated this' letter back. IMO, they never really investigated at all.

    Hey crowman,

These are two individuals that work for the EVIL EXP that are supposed to be **somebodies** in the company. EXP uses these two people as witnesses in civil suits against them. Maybe address your letter to them -----> I have heard of the first one a lot, but my instincts tell me D. Browne has more influence.

I would also add in my letter the CRA is required to consider your evidence AND PROVIDE TO THE CA/CREDITOR WITHIN 5 DAYS OF RECEIPT!!!!!!!!!

Let us know how it goes.....

You might also ask for procedural proof of how they verified this three times. Tell them you want names.

I think short and to the point is good. And leave in the part about suing.

Someone got a letter returned to them once that had been written by one of the credit repair firms. I don't remember if it was Junum, Lexington Law or someone else. Anyway, the letter was handwritten and appeared to be written by an "average Joe" (or less). I think it's better to not sound the same as everyone else's.

Re: Re: opinions needed re: letter writing

actually, i did send a procedure request (asked for names, numbers, etc.) and all they've sent me is this:

    "About our Verification Process:
When you question information on your personal credit report and tell us specifically why you believe the information is inaccurate or incomplete we contact the source of the information directly by telephone, letter, or through an automated verification system. We ask the source to check their records to verify all of the information regarding the item you questioned, and report back within 30 days of the date that we received your request. Once we receive their response, we will send you the results of the investigation. If we do not receive a response within 30 days, we will update the item as you have requested or delete the information, and send you the results."

This came on one page, with no other information, separate from any other correspondence. I received it only a few days after i got the procedure request's green card back, so i'm not really sure if its the actual procedure response or not. I'll give them a few more days before i consider it their lame a$$ attempt at explaining their procedure. What else would it be?

What do you mean, 'got a letter returned to them'? From whom? the CRA?

    thanks for your input.

    Crowman....

Congrats:) I just noticed in another thread that you eventually had success with this account and EXP deleted.

Did you send your letter addressed to any of the guys above or just to EXP?

Re: Re: opinions needed re: letter writing

Sorry I wasn't around for a few days and missed the question "returned by whom?" Apparently, the credit repair firm wrote the letter and addressed it to the CRA. They used the person's address who would be disputing. They then mailed that letter to the postmaster near the person's house and asked them to postmark and mail the enclosed letter. I've done that myself, it gets something postmarked from a place other than where you mail it. For example, a lot of people send letters to the postmaster at North Pole, AK at Christmas time or someplace named Valentine at Valentine's Day.

However, this particular post office thought this was against the law and returned the letter. Since the credit repair firm had used the person's return address, the letter went to him and he opened it. The letter apparently was made to look unprofessional so it didn't look like it was from a firm.

Just to exp. I figured I'd try it that way first, and if it didnt work, i'd use the 'guys above'. I still have a bunch of crap to work on still with Exp, so I'm sure the names & addresses will come in handy at some point. thanks again.

    Hi Crowmom,

Did the letter you posted above get positive results? Did you get the deletions?? I am working on an intent to sue letter and came across this thread and your letter is short and to the point, my letter seems a bit wordy and I am not sure which is the best way to go, I desperately need a particular TL deleted and I find my self reciting gone with the wind to the cra's, lol, please let me know. thanks

Yes it worked for me! I did insert one more sentence tho in my final draft. Its the sentence in red below. Also, I used a font of about 16 i believe, lol. Caught someone's eye i guess, because the TL was removed within about a week.
