Does anyone know how long after you opt back in before you start getting credit card offers in the mail?

It's been about a month and a half for me. Not even one soft inquiry.

I opted out last fall. I need to get a VISA to replace my next card. I just opted back in today.

Anyone else have any knowledge of how long it takes before one gets pre-approved card offers after opting back in?

In the same boat as you, Eric.

I followed that mass craze over the information that Opting Out and disputing soft-inquiries (EXP, at least) would lower your score...What a crock of...

Now I'm regretting it. It's been about 2 months for me and I still don't see any soft-inquiries...

I only opted out recently but before I did I hardly received any offers or had v. many inq. on my rpts for offers. I chose to opt-out only as a fraud preventative measure. I was concerned that the preapprovals would get lost in the mail. But like I said there weren't that many to get lost.

Thanks for the replies. I opted out to prevent identity theft. But now I would like to get another card. I am hoping that since my Beacon (Equifax) score should be around 680 by now, I will get some pre approved credit card offers.

I've opted out months ago, and it was definitely the right thing to do.

I won't opt in again until all my 3 scores are well above 700.

What's your justification for it being the "right thing"?

    Did your score improve?

...or was it a matter of receiving less junk mail?

You seem to be very sure PRM INQs don't affect one's score. This is where we differ. I'm not gonna start this debate again. Marie has offered some evidence suggesting that they do in fact affect one's score. Anyone here can choose whether to accept it or not. Until presented with evidence to the contrary, I choose to accept it.

Of course, getting less junk mail and minimizing the risk of identity fraud was just an added bonus.

I am with saar on this. I.D. theft is a major problem and I don't like the subprime and junk mail offers.
