I broke my no-applying fast and started applying for credit cards over the holiday. I applied for BofA, TargetVisa, Discover and got "we are processing, check back later messages". I have checked everyday since I applied and they haven't pulled an inquiry yet. Could it be that they can't pulled and inquiry becuase I opted-out? Does anyone know? Would it help to opt back in? I applied for HHBank, Exxon/Mobil, Amex and was instantly approved. I got $5k with HHBank, $2k with Amex and don't know with Exxon/Mobil card. HHBank and Amex pulled Eq -754 due to disputes and Exxon/Mobil pulled Exp - don't know the score. I am thinking about calling tonight to see if they have made a decision for BofA, Target and Discover or should I wait until I get something in the mail?
No, opting out only prevents the CRA's from placing your name on lists for people to send you credit offers. Since you authorized the inquiry by applying, they can pull you credit
OPT-OUT IS ONLY PRM... I WON'T OPT-OUT EVER... OPT-IN would help if you also have EQUIFAX CREDIT WATCH and check every day..."SOFT" and "HARD" disappear real fast...
I have Equifax CreditWatch and I pull it everyday. I just don't understand why their inquiries aren't showing up and they say further processing. But there is no inquiry, it's driving me mad! Then when I call they have no record of my application???
I just called Target Visa and they said it was turned down because I have an old chargeoff with Mervyn's. I didn't know they had a blacklist. Oh well, that answers that question. Now, Discover and BofA.
