Okay I know this is not at great card but I am still rebuilding so I will take the good trade line and live with it. What I want to know is, does anyone have good experience with them? I applied last night and got a message that states that they will be in touch with me by mail in 10 to 15 business days. Is this a rejection? I would hate to waste another INQ on a decline for a sub-prime card! Either way I am not going to apply for anything until I start looking for a home in April.
Hey dep, how's it going? I believe the the orchard card is owned by Household Bank, but I could be wrong. I've heard good things about it, and that it is easier to get than alot of others. I beleive the online response is standard for Household bank, and you could probably call them to check on the status. I'm positive the decision has already been made. I was approved for several Household cards over the internet, but received the standard message you did, and called to find out if I was approved or not. Also, have you tried doing a search on this board for orchard bank? If you haven't (just in case) there may be some insight there. Good luck.
thanks Mike, I noticed today that they pulled a soft INQ on EX yesterday when I applied, and today they pulled a hard INQ on EQ so I don't know but maybe they are doing more research. I was declined for the GM Card( also household) for too many inq and short history. I don't know but I bet they have differant standards.
I got a card from them, pay my bill online and never had a problem. The are a little slow about CL increase.
I did check and they are owned/managed by Household Bank. It seems unusual they would check anything other than EQ. Have you tried calling yet? I was think that maybe one problem is that you just moved??? If Orchard doesn't work you may have to try and get a secured card, or wait a couple more months and get some bumpage. Let me know what happens...
thanks for the input guys, I will wait and see. If this is a decline I will take it as a sign from above to lay off for a while and wait for the scores to move in to the 700s
Give them a call for the results. I would be willing to bet that you are approved. Their standards are not quite as high as the Household and GM cards.
Your scores aren't that bad-- you should be approved no problem I would think. What other cards do you have? I know everyone hates Providian, but they did approve me for a getsmart with a 1K credit line (outrageous interest rate, but like you I am rebuilding) and my scores were/are lower than yours. You might give them a chance.
Your scores are actually pretty normal... depending on what's on your file (derogs) you might actually get a Citi or a Target visa (and if not, Target will definitely give you a guest card). and that's with no annual fee so it's a free trade line
For the subprime market this is not a bad card. The fees are reasonable. Payments are credited promptly and you can count on the interest rate remaining stable over time. Credit limit increases are frequent after the first year. The initial CL is likely to be $300 but a call to customer service when you get the card will get it raised to $500. This being said, Orchard's service has declined over the years. The reps used to have authority to raise credit limits on the spot and waive annual fees. If you ask for a CL increase now they will want you to pay a fee for it. To get an annual fee waived or an APR reduction, you have to threaten to close the account. The rock bottom APR on this account is 15.9--no matter how many years of good payment history you have, In my case, it has been 8 years. Also the CL tops out at $5K. Once you establish a decent credit history, you probably won't want this card anymore. Since Orchard aka Household Bank will not upgrade you to a prime card, you'll end up tossing this card and moving on to better deals with prime lenders like Citibank, Chase or MBNA. I am closing mine soon with the only regret being that it is my oldest account and I may take a credit score hit when I do that. Still, it's one of the best cards out there for credit rebuilding.
I called this morning and got good news. Approved for a Household CC(not the Orchard card?) don't know why the HH card instead of the O. got a $750 CL and a 3.9% intro, which sky-rockets to 19.24% after 6mo. But this is a start, first card with no stupid fee for acceptance ( first savings, and fisrt prmiere(got them to waiwe the $119 fee)) and no monthly fee. so this time next year I should be able to get much better cards. mean time HH gets my gas charges and paid off every mo. and the others sit in the sock drawer. I do have a Credit Union card 2yrs old w/ $1k limit and only 9.65% APR wich I use but I will not use the others and get jacked on the intrest.
Congrats. They gave you the household card because obviously your scores were better than needed for the Orchard card. When you get the card, call before you activate it and ask them to give you a little more on the limit as you might want to transfer a balance. I don't know if they'll do it on that card, but they do on the "prime" Household and GM cards. And as Marie said, you may want to think about applying for the Citi aa card or the Target visa. You could be surprised.
Okay the temptation was too great, I applied for both Citi aa,and Target both. I got the same responce " your aplication needs further processing" I will call CS on Monday and see what kind of responce I get. I may have made a mistake I applied for the Citi Plat and not the gold, do you think I would be considered for the Gold if I do not qualify for the Plat?
I don't know if they consider you for a lesser product if you don't qualify for what you applied for. Check the terms on their site. Also, why not call them now and see what the answer is. Did you just now apply? I ask because every time I have applied for something online on a Sunday or Sunday evening, the apps couldn't be processed online and I had to call for the answer. Most likely due to site maintenance or the cra's not being able to process the reports at that time. So, give them a call.
I have one $94 collection from 95 currently in dispute, other than that I have 9 good trades and am at only 30% utilization.
From 95? That should be falling off soon by itself depending upon the month. I would be willing to bet you are approved for the Target Visa. I must not have been thinking earlier, because if not approved for the Target Visa, they do consider you for the Target Guest Card, but you will have visa!!
my mistake the COL is from 7/97 so I have a couple of years to live with it if I can't disputed it off. I have read that Target will give you a guest card if not the Visa, But I was actully asking about Citi AA, I applied for the Plat on-line instead of the Gold. and was wondering if they would consider for the Gold if I don't Qualify for Plat. when I called CS number to find out about the app. they gave me another number for app status, I called and the rep convinced me to put in app over the phone then said it would be two or three weeks for a responce. I thought that they could give instant responce? Or is this the polite brush off and wait for the reject letter responce?
