After charging me 89.00 annual fee they added a 29.00 over the limit fee because that 89.00 annual fee made me go over my mere 500 credit line.I wrote them and told them to cancell my card right now and report it as closed by consumerGREEDY BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably a bad idea to close it with a balance - will probably hurt your score. To play devil's advocate though, it is the debtor's responsibility to know when the annual fee is due. I just called First Premeir yesterday to ask when it's due because my CL is only $225.

It would be nice though if they would send you a reminder on your bill.

Same thing happened to me. Just received a letter in the mail...congrats your cl has been increased. Guess by how much....$30 freakin pesos. I could just scream....but my plans were to have them paid off by then. Well my house flooded and.....

anyhow then the 2nd letter I opened was...you have gone over your cl....a $29 over the limit feel, plus your annual renewal. I can't wait to pay these suckers off. I plan to do that next payperiod. I'm just going to sacrifice and pay them off.

I just called orchard today to complain about the annual fee on my card...$49.00.

I said I wanted to close the account, hoping they would do a counter-offer (rentention). Whoops...they didn't and they closed the account. : /

Then I hung up and felt terrible...I need that positive trade on my reports to help my scores!!!! So, I called them back to rescind my request, and they declined to reopen the account. Yikes, I thought.

So, I asked for a supervisor, explained the story to him and he called be back 30 mins later, said the account had been reopened.

Whew...close call. I'll just be happy with what I've got I guess. :)

    Matt,

A lesson learned. :) We have all done it sometime or another hoping to receive lower rates, high CLs, etc. The best way to ask for what you want is to contact retention and say "I have a card with so and so my interest rate/CL with them is this much. I love doing business with your company, but feel that the CL/interest rate I have is inadequate. Is there something that we can work out?"

    Dani

PS As you probably have learned - never threaten to close an account, unless you can do without it. Most times they will call you on it.

    Thanks Dani for the advice.

I'm new at this, just learning the ropes. I just want to improve my credit, that's all. My reports are a complete disaster--i have junk on there that makes no sense like utility accounts--3 from the same electric company, sme time. Looks like I had 3 homes, but that's obviously not the case. I'm working at it though. : /

I'm not going to call the rentention number (I'm not taking any chances anymore today), but thanks for the customer service number. The one on the back of my card is long distance!!! You would think that for $49 year I could at least get an 800 customer service number to call.

I just absolutely love being treated like pond scum by these people. It's such a wonderful warm and fuzzy feeling....:) Oh well I guess I'm getting what I had coming. Like they say, just keep rolling with the punches.

    here too!

i pay online 2-3x/mo but last month the interest made me ~$2. over my limit and was charged the $29. fee.

they can have it. that's all they're gonna get. just went to the bank yesterday and applied for a $13k debt consolidation loan so i can pay them off and others off.

    crossing fingers.
    hth :)

Have you disputed the three tradelines through the CRAs since they are the same? Also, is it a local electric company? I have learned that "hometown creditors" are usually pretty easy to work with? Usually, you can speak to a supervisor and get deletion for payment. A really good sob story also helps.

They give you the magic 800 number to customer service as a reward after one year. It goes to the same place as the number on your card and I believe it's already posted above.

Yes I will attack those in the next month or so. I think they will be easy, so I'm saving them for a time when I'm feeling beat down by the rest of these morons. :) Seriously though, I have quite a few things in the works right now and I don't want to get over my head where I allow things to slip away and not keep on top of everything.

I would rather take it a few at a time and do it right than fly through and screw everything up more. :)
