I have had an unsecured orchard card for one year and two months. My credit limit is $585 (I got it through a special offer for Bally's members. I had to transfer my membership balance on the card plus an additional $200 limit=$585.) Does anyone know how they determine increases? I have made all payments on time and recently I have made two payments in a month.

I have been with Orchard since '94. Now have two accounts. It used to be that Orchard would increase my credit limit every six months. Lately, it has been every three months. I'm not sure if there is a formula to getting increases other than the obvious pay on time and don't exceed the limit. But my pattern has been to charge fairly close to the limit from time to time and make large payments. Never pay just the minimum unless that would pay you down to -0-. Paying the minimum may signal financial distress and make the bank nervous about increasing the limit.
