Got my first offer from Orchard and it does not appear to be as bad as some of the deals I've heard. It's "up to" a $2k limit, with a minimum of $300 - I'm thinking that means $300 CL, period. It's not secured - and they point that out. It's 3.99% for six months, then up to 14.99%. There's an annual fee of $39 and everything else looks standard. Since they sent me the offer, and they must know about my BK, I figure this is one card I can actually get. Anyone have much luck getting the fee waived initially, or annually, or improving the terms? I have put up Cap1's "slow ways" and grown it from $500 (unsecured) to $1900 in 15 months.
Never been able to get Orchard to do anything. My Cl is the same as it was almost two years ago. This year when my card expires, I am cancelling. Me **thinks** they are worse than Cap1. BTW.....those are some NICE scores for someone 2 years out of BK!
I have orchard, 300 limit. only 4 months so no CLI yet, will try in a couple of months. I run them to the limit(not hard with 300) and pay them off on line 2 or 3 times a month. I have had no problems and they are a pos trade line. I will not pay for a CLI. I just use it for lunch money and do not carry a balance, they report correctly for me with a 3 cras I was discharged from BK-13 7 months ago and got the card 3 months out of BK. Good Luck
Butch, the only way I could tell would be to apply. I'm getting that too little, too late feeling and will probably pass. Cinderella, thanks. Gotta blush when the belle of the ball admires my stats. Can I help you with those slippers? I feel like I'm stuck between two worlds. Getting my scores to be decent has resulted in a lot of frustration because the BK is too recent for me to qualify for Amex, BofA and Chase (where I tried to leverage a car loan w/them). I still get an offer from Orchard, which from all sources to date, sounds less service oriented than Cap1. I'm not going to worry much about credit cards, I'm now focusing on getting a mortgage.
Have you checked Doc's "whopulledmycreit" site? He's done a lot of good work on that and it's helped many people. ???
I did not look at it for Orchard. In the past I've looked it over carefully but there's a definite Unless You're Dan Factor going for me. Every time I've applied, based on the data available, an unexpected CRA was used. Until my BK comes off one or two, they're all pretty much the same.
I have 2 Orchard accounts..one with a $1500 limit and one with a $575 limit. I also have a Household mastercard with a $300 limit. I have a bk on my reports too. I really haven't had any problems with Orchard/Household. (Besides the annual fees that is. ) daisy
I have an orchard card with a $2500 CL. I first got this card when I moved to Florida 5 years ago post divorce. I applied for this card via First Union. It was supposed to be a $500 secured card. But when it arrived in the mail it had a $1000 limit. After 1 year of making timely payments I got the $500 deposit back. The CL increases have been slow. $1500 in 5 years. I would close this account but it is my oldest TL.
After 18 months only option for an increase was to pay for $100 increases on a Orchard and household. Dumped both, not worth having a $500 and $300 credit line. If you need the reference take it, if you need something better than a toy card pass.
Here are some suggestions : 1. You might want to take a look at American Pacific Bank http://www.apbank.com for a secured credit card. 2. For the long run, obtain a couple of passbook loans from a credit union or a bank - ( make sure that they report the loan to the cra's ) - and make sure every payment is made on time. 3. Think long term, if you get a couple of passbook loans and maybe one or two good secured credit cards in about 2 to 3 years your FICO scores could be in the 740 range.
"How did you get your limits with orchard up to 1500?" That's the cl they gave me to start with on my first card with them, then they gave me another one with a $500 limit and about 1 yr later raised the cl $75..there wasn't a charge for it. daisy
I have the card $300 CL. After six months got an increase to $450. We'll see what happens in May when the card is one year old.
I have the card $300 CL. After six months got an automatic increase to $450. We'll see what happens in May when the card is one year old.
Daisy, Can you please help me out? Whatever happened to your dispute you made for your sister when TU said you were a repair co and refused to investigate? I've been doing some searches on this matter b/c TU just did the same unbelievable thing to me. I'm so mad right now and not sure if I should wait for 35 days and send an ITS letter or contact them now. I'm referring to this post thread of yours: http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...?s=&threadid=54678&highlight=refusing+dispute thank you for any help, daisy.
