.......should I give previous addresses within the last five years? Will this hurt me if/when I dispute?
If you're talking about paying for the report they will probably need them to make sure it's you. I don't think it's a problem. Wasn't a problem for me. If you want a free report sign up for the trial period of Credit Watch....whatever they call it. Another trick is go to Orchard and see what card they recommend. It will creste a soft inquiry and should allow you to order a free report by phone. On the phone they will give you a reference number. You can then go online and look up your report before they mail the original. The same thing normally works with Umbrella Bank. Apply for a checking account and don't accept it and you'll get a soft inquiry.
Thanks........I have also heard that it is better to get the report straight from the source instead of through another company because there might be some info missing....I was gonna order the "three in one" until I heard that.......MAN, there sure is alot of info on these boards.....alot of it differing....which is a good thing I guess.
Mrbreeze, I am assuming that you are referring to the questions that Experian asks online to verify your identity. I don't know if "verifying" this information would cause you problems later, as you may very well have negatives on your CR that are tied to your old address(s). Typically, the FIRST thing you want to dispute are your old addresses as "not mine" to eliminate them as tie-ins to old negatives before trying to delete the old negs. When a bought my Experian online a couple of days ago, I was asked different questions than you were asked - old address never came up. Perhaps these questions are randomized or changed every day or two. It might be worth attempting to buy your report every day for a few days to see if the questions change, just in case the address does get "tagged" by your verification. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I don't want to take any chances while repairing my credit. In reading this board I have found out far more than I thought I knew! Hope this helps........ BKinUT
Experian's CreditExpert.com is a good one. I've found in my case, Experian has the most detailed information about date of lates etc. Their FAKO score may not mean much but I still like it. Equifax'sCreditWatch is the best deal for me. Of course I caught it last year in October so I can still pull my report daily with a FICO score. They don't offer that anymore. I think you get one report a quarter or something... I'm still in the PrivacyGuard.com free 3 mth trial which I like to see all 3 reports side by side. It's not as detailed in my opinion but still like it. And thanks to the folks here I finally figured out how to pull my report everyday! I get a TU report every week for free based on credit denial from some inquiries on my report from August! Hope this helps!
