Ok, so I disputed a First USA account with the CRA ten days after doing it with the collection agency. Time passes, and I get this letter in the mail: Dear Justin, As a leader in the credit card industry, we are committed to providing innovative products and superior customer service. We recieved your dispute from the credit reporting agencies, regarding the information reported for the above-referenced account. After researching your dispute, including a review of our records related to the account, we were unable to clearly determine your responsibility for the account. Therefore, we informed the credit reporting agencies that the account should be reported as disputed on your credit file pending a further investigation. If you wish to continue to dispute the reporting of this account, we will be pleased to assist you. To do this, we ask that you send a signed copy of the enclosed affidavit to the following address: Customer Security Operations P.O. Box City, St Zip Once the information has been recieved, someone from our Fraud Department will contact you to further investigate your claim. If you have any questions, blah, blah, blah My Question is: The affidavit states that I never applied for the original card. I did, but there was some fraudlent activity that was unauthorized in the second month. I disputed with them originally, the ignored my dispute, sent some "we're investigating it still letters", then closed my account and sold it to a collection agency. If they can't prove it now, I believe they should take if out. I shouldn't have to jump thru more hoops. Do you guys agree? Should I consult an attorney?

I also found this thread. Any ideas or updates on the situation? Does anyone have a suggestion if I should send the affidavit or just ignore it? If they can't prove it, I should be able to ignore it and have it removed without sending them anything further. http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...ostid=220324&highlight="first+usa"#post220324 Thanks for the info guys, you all rock. Justin
Justin, They stated they couldn't find any information, Basically they didn't verify the account so I would state, "They have nothing on you." You can use a copy of that letter in your next dispute with the CRAs to delete the account due to them not being able to verify it with you.
