Prior to joining this board and learning that I shouldn't have paid a Collection Agency, I had started paying off a collection account that I had. Before I finished paying them off I joined this board and after reading, I tried some of the things listed on here to negotiate with them to remove the listing from my report. They of course never responded.

The account originated with the college I attended and I plan on going back sometime soon so it was something I would have to pay. I have since paid off the school directly. The problem is the Collection Agency has not updated their files to show paid even when I disputed the balance with the Credit Bureau. They validated with teh Credit Bureau.

I remember reading something on here about how you can hold the original creditor liable for the actions of the Collection Agency. Anyone have any ideas on how I should proceed to get this off my record?

I didn't think about that. It has been awhile since I've been to the boards. Thanks.
