I know the OC does not have to validate, but do they have to notate on your credit bureau report that the item in question is being disputed? The only negative things remaining on my credit reports are three charged-off credit cards - together totaling less than $2K. I've asked before - and I'll ask again - has anybody had any luck with getting charge offs removed? I would gladly pay for deletion, but none of them seem to want to agree to that. Anybody???
I had a chargeoff deleted from TU by simply disputing it online - "balance incorrect" and it just went away. It has stayed on my other reports, so I don't know exactly what happened but I'll take it.
Girlie said, "I know the OC does not have to validate, but do they have to notate on your credit bureau report that the item in question is being disputed?" As a furnisher of info to the CRAs they do have to notate (on your CR) that the item is in dispute if you notify them that you dispute the accuracy of the item as per the FCRA. If they don't do this, it *could* give you some leverage to use against them. Are these three charge-offs paid? How old are they? Are there any CAs involved?
Yes there are ways to have it removed from your account. I suggest you do a thorough search on the credit talk discussion board as there have been many people who have successfully done this. Two quick ways to do it: Negotiate with the creditor (depends on how long ago this was...) to have them report the charge-offs as NEVER late. Yes they can do this. Hell, I have heard of companies removing repos from your credit. The creditor has the power to do so. Don't let them tell you no. Go above the csr on the phone to a supe. Get in touch with an exec if necessary...yes it can be done. But is it worth the time and effort for 2k? The other way is it use Lexington or another credit repair agency. Not those lawyers who try to sell you on using a new ss# (tax id#). If you find someone who knows the CRA's and the FCRA well enough you can remove some (or maybe all) of the items off your credit report. Your mileage may vary so be warned. Hi, I've had really good luck w/having two huge chargeoffs (from '99) removed. I asked for validation from the collection agency and/or the OC. I also simultaneously disputed w/the CRAs. Each was reported on all three reports and so far I have gotten one or both removed from all three.
I have disputed them with the CRA's but I haven't tried to do anything as far as disputing with the OC. I would pay to have them removed, but it seems like they would rather leave them on there and do without the $$$ than take cash for deletion. Go figure. Thanks for all the info, guys.
Are these three charge-offs paid? How old are they? Are there any CAs involved? [/B][/QUOTE] Credit Repair companes ave no special technique for getting charge-offs removed. But Creditnetter do, the threat of a lawsuit! Do a search for "Original Creditor Validation". You can use the many violations that the CRA's or OC's will rack up to threaten to sue, or actually sue in order for them to delete. Lizardking removed several charge-offs totalling over $30,000. I have removed two totalling over $12,000. good luck humblemarc
