Sorry to bother anyone, but I need a little help. I recieved an email the other day from a eModel talent scout. They had saw my picture on a dating ad online. Anyways they send me info on eModel.com. Well silly me responds and I look over their site, thinking that maybe I can make some extra money. Well Turns out that on the MAy 2nd they call and do a so called interview. it took about 45 minutes on the phone(selling their service). I bite and the service and they get $395 from me. The next day I look at their site and things have changed somewhat. Also I never recieved an email, letter, or phone about thanking me for joinging or confirming my charge (AKA receipt). I say the hell with this and write a letter to them stating that I don't think their servicxe will help me and demand my money back. I FedEx'ed a leeter to them on May 3rd with home phone number, Cell phone, and email. Still no word. What should I do today? I feel like I made a deal with the DEVIL. I was going to do one more letter in writing and then contact Providian VISA on the charge. I'm not satisfied with the service. I feel it is fraudulent. Any suggestions??? Please??? They soliceted me. I didn't come looking for them... SuckerNVegas
I can't remember which law it is, but you have 72 hours to cancel any purchase made via door-to-door or telephone solicitation. Do it in writing. Notify your card company. Somebody on here will know which law it is, with all the legal eagles who post here. If iI remember, I'll post it. breeze
Right of Recision laws vary from state to state. Some states give you as much as five days to cancel.
What a deal, they get $395.00 to tell you they have your picture on file and are seen by "e"-talent scouts every day. Vegas, Ill put your picture up on my site for half that ..Sounds like a legit business but a total scam in principal. Although (as you said) you "bit", if you bit by credit card, you have rights and can refuse payment....You can always dispute the purchase as breeze or Zoe said. Or you can tell your credit card company you never received notice or service as you described and are refusing the charge. Credit card companies protect you in these matters against fraud. Send your fed-ex letter to your credit card company and inform them you are disputing the charge. -Dave
I'll give them a couple more days to get a reply...If not then I'll send in the a dispute to the CC company. This totally sucks. I don't know what I was thinking at the moment. Who in the hell wants to be held accountable to their looks everyday. I don't even have a receipt of sale. At least with the porn sites, the send you a confirmation of the order and you also look over a service agreement. All of of this was missing. Damn....hopefully I don't have to pay for the mistake... You are welcome to email me your picture, and I will show it to people for the low fee of FREE! Seriously, good luck. I think calling the CC company is a good idea.
FYI......my wallet was stolen 3 days before Christmas and there was a fraudulent charge for $16.xx on my Providian Gold card. TO THIS DAY I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CREDIT FOR THIS!!! I went through the proper procedure and gave them all of the information that they requested. I know it's only $16 bucks but STILL.....haven't received the credit and it's been 5 months!!! I've only called to follow up 1 time and that was like 3 months ago. I don't have the time or patience to be on hold and get the run-a-round from Providian. I have now learned that if I need to charge something that is questionable, to use American Express. THEY DON'T PLAY when it comes to chargebacks or fraud.
I had a similiar situation with a consumer ad in the paper, they charged my card for 69.95. Three months later, I never heard a thing from them, so I contacted my CC company(USAA), filled out the required forms and received a credit within 15 days.
