100-90 A 89-80 B 79-70 C 69-60 D 59-0 F YOU WOULD NEED THE "EXACT" NUMBERS... "IF" THE B'S WERE 89'S THE "D" COULD EVEN BE 60 AND THE "A" COULD HAVE BEEN AS LOW AS 90...IT STILL WORKS OUT TO A "B"...
Yes, but if they were low numbers as in 80+80+80+90+60 you get 78! A C! An extreme case but the exact numbers are vital!
Dani, Hard lesson to learn, I thought there must be a tiff of some kind behind the sudden downswing in grades. I hope you don't think you can never express your opinion again, that would be a shame. But letting a professor save face or keeping comments or observations as detached (ie not perceived to be a personal attack) is sometimes the only way to go. Doesn't always seem fair, especially when others can say all they want and it's okay, but that's the way it is. And organizational behavior will tell you that the scenario isn't limited to academics, either. It's just that in the corporate world, you may get "punished " in ways that are not as black and white as grade points. Good luck with this dispute...
Maggie, I let it go. I tried contacting the professor a couple more times to go over the grades. She did not reply to my emails. It is not worth my time to fight it. Am I ticked? Totally. I did write a letter to the dean, but he has not replied either. I made my voice heard and I stated my reasons. Both know where I stand. As sad as it is, some battles are not worth it. Plus, it just made me angrier the more I focused on it. Dani
sounds like you did the right thing for your circumstances...your mental health is worth more than the impact of the grade hope this semester is starting out well for you,
