Is there any way I could get the our electric utility to waive the deposit for a new account?

Our old utility won't give us a letter stating that our balance is paid off, because they would also have to indicate that we were late in the past 12 months.

Really need to have deposit waived. Any thoughts of this topic?

    Thanks

Ask the utility if they happen to have an agreement with any of the local banks (a Utility club)

in my area if you are required to give a deposit you can opt to join a utility club for a fee of 5-25 dollars. The bank/credit union will pay your deposit for you if you qualify.

ONE late is a POOR payment history???

I thought MANY people gave LAST PAYMENT STATIS to utilities...(LAST ONES TO BE PAID)
