This if off topic, but in case anyone know what to do pls let me know. My mother in law's house was flooded on Weds due to a water tank leak, I call the Home warraty co for her to do the repairs (she doesnt speak english) I told the rep that this is a EMERGENCY since the whole house is soaked! she told me they will send someone ASAP. well 4 days later no one call, no one showed up for repair & no one aswer the calls. So, yesterday I had to call outside repaiman to take care of it, and pay out of our own pocket. my mother in law told me that is not the first time it happends, evrytime they call for claim , takes them at least 4 days for someone to call back, then schedule a appointment 4 days later. Not to mention the repair is never cover under the policy and their contrctor always charge a higher rate than other outside handyman. For a small 2b house she pays $350/year, I dont see the point of paying the premium if they dont even showed up! 1)Should I demand the premium back and have her insure w/ someone else? 2) Beside BBB, whom can I file complain to? well, I do know a local TV station love this kind of case, but I meant gov agency.. thanks for reading..
This I would like to know too! If you don't mind me asking what is the name of the company she is with? I have Home Trust... does this ring a bell?
The name is BHWC, "Buyers Home warranty Company"..I did a search on BBB, and seems like there is alot of complain on them also..
I have American Home Shieldand they suck also. Huge number of complaints on the quality of replacement parts. They replaced my Carrier A/C with a Generic brand. They are covered by their iron tight contract so technically they are not in violation (in my case) Rule of thumb is if you can put the amount of money you pay for home warranty away every year you will end up saving in the long run. Anyway, I got this warranty with the new home purchase and I am not going to renew it this year. Dan Dallas, TX
I just read from a lawyer's site that home warranty is a "service contract:, and suggest to file complain to FTC..uh,,,funny eh?
