I have an account on my credit report (Kay jewelers)that is a paid charge-off. I paid it before I knew any better. Now I am looking to remove it from my report. I tried disputing it, but was verified and remains. I spoke with the creditor and they will not remove it. What can I do now? Send them a validation letter? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, I have a charge-off from Cross Country bank in the amount of $662 dollars. I am looking to have that removed or changed to a positive rating. This account was also verified when disputed and I have had no luck trying to negotiate with them. They say they don't care if they get their money, as the account has already been written off. Has anyone out there had any luck dealing with CCB and if so, how did you do it??

I threatened Cross Country Bank with a lawsuit. They called me up, yelled at me, refused to give me a postive rating, then hung up on me. Great customer sevice.

You have to keep disputing and disputing...
Send the OG creditor a validation letter then dispute with the CRA..
if the creditor verifys that it is yours but does not add that you dispute the debt and debt paid you have them and A FCRA violation that you can sue on..

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Does the creditor have to add a statement saying that the item is disputed?? Where on the report would it say that? What would be the next step to take if it doesn't say it's disputed??

Also, how long should I wait for them to add that the item is disputed and if they verify the account, do they still have to say it's disputed?

This is what the report says:
    Status:
    Paid/Account charged off.

    Status Details:
This account is scheduled to continue on record until 5-2007.
This item was verified and updated on 12-2001.

No mention that it is disputed.
