I had an AMEX Platinum Charge card charge off in 11/98 with about $14k. I paid it off over time and made final payment in June 2000. No settlement, paid full balance. A week ago, I received a bill for $600. Someone stole my brother's card, which was an AU on my account, but I had cancelled his card back in early '98 because he never paid me back. Anyway, someone stole the card and charged some stuff from the internet and a dinner in Panama City, FL. I have disputed with CRAs and AMEX directly to no avail. Is this the break I need to get it off? Please advise.
