i have a sears charded off?paid collection on my CR i tried sending the paid collection letter, via certified mail. Today i recieved a letter from sears saying that they have reviewed the information reported to the ceredit bureau against the information provided by me and have found the credit bureau report to be correct. Im at a loss now- that paid collection letter sounded really good to me, but it didnt work. what do i need to do now? please help me!

They checked you credit report to see if its correct? See if the used a hard inquiry?

How did they review the information with the credit bureau when they didn't pull your report? Hard or Soft inquiry?

thats a good question. im not showing an inquiry. i assume they are going off the info i sent them versus the info they report to the CRA. what do you think i should do? is there another way around this, other than the paid collection letter? is there a letter i should send after that one?

Bill Bauer has an excellent letter you can try. Run a search on "Bill Bauer" and "estoppel". Javan posted a copy of it a while back.

    Hi Yuppie, (giggle)

Tell us when did all this happen? Has it been long enough for a hard inq. to show up? I'm with Kiyi on this one. I bet they pulled your report in order to see what they reported.

That's why you don't want to give them any information in your dispute letters. Just tell them that the stuff you are reporting is WRONG and drop it. You are actually elliciting a violation, which you can then use as leverage - see?

If you want send me your letter and let me see it. My email is on.

OR if you're confortable post it here.

    Hi Yuppie,

I agree with Butch...never ever tell give them specifics. Just tell them that the information that they are reporting is incorrect and that they need to correct it.

i sent them the "paid collection" letter that i found on this board. i didnt give any specifics in the letter other than my acct #. the main problem with my credit is that i have alot of charged off to bad debt items on my report that are paid in full. im trying to get these items off, but i am having a terrible time with it.

    Good Job,

Now just be patient and let the violations rack up, (so we hope).
