....from low 700's to 778 and 800. I had a paid collection from 2002 that just appeared on my Eq. report last year and on my Exp. report last month. It never appeared on TU. Last week both gone. ????? I use Privacy Guard and saw the Plus Scores jump and the collection gone. Ran Fico scores and sure enough no collection and huge jump in scores. Why would the collections drop off 2 CB's and the same time and scores jump that much.
The higher your scores, the more impact a lone derogatory will impact them. As to why the CA deleted, who knows but, take it where you can find it. It may have became obsolete or perhaps they decided to purge some lingering files.
I hadn't thought about the CA deleting them but that would explain why they came off 2 CBs at the same time. Any one have any ideas why a CA would delete. I had no contact with them
Without knowing all the details, a couple of possibilities: 1) The accounts are scheduled for removal (from credit report reporting) for 7.5 years from DATE OF FIRST MAJOR DELIQUENCY, you say a "paid collection from 2002", it could be the actual "start date for reporting" was in 2000. Hence, the reporting window is up. 2) Sometimes data furnishers (to CRAs) "shorten" the reporting time to cover themselves. I stumbled upon this by accident once, the data furnisher will remove the account (before the 7 year reporting limit) so they cannot be held for "over reporting". 3) I assume you're in LA, you could check your state's reporting laws, perhaps you have shorter state laws for credit reporting.
Interesting info. Some other information is that I had co-signed for my son and yes he kept telling me he was going to pay it off so the start date was probably earlier than 2002. The derog appeared on Eq. last year....4 years later and on Exp. last month 5 years later. These facts may have something to do with LA law or even federal. Does anyone know the site for LA reporting laws?
