Paid collection from 97

    Just curious - had a JC Pennys account from 97 that went into collection. Does it really matter to dispute it since it was almost 5 years ago (8/97)??

    Also, if I fight it, do I send a dispute letter to the CRAs or a validation letter to JCPennys??

    yes dispute it until it comes off. Took me 8 tries, but finally bam, it was gone.

    If you don't mind me asking Sam which letter did you send and to whom?

    Also how long did you wait before re-disputing (I'm trying to avoid "We've already verified it for you" )

    Sam,

    You disputed 8 times. Over what time period? You did'nt get the "Frivolous" excuse from the CRA.
